But I'd argue that the electoral system has actually proven to be a pretty sound mechanism because its administrators DO have a handle on it.
It's all very localized. And it worked. Not even Trump could knock it off its feet.
The worst thing we could ever do is centralize it any way or let it become like the many other systems you've pointed to.
It is a very difficult system to hack.
The conspiracies regarding the election results are only happening because we have a president who belongs in a straightjacket.
No electoral system would have been free of his attacks. The fact that ours is very decentralized, run not even by states, really, but at the county level, made it impervious to his attempts to mess with it.
There is no way to avoid the awful tweets and his ability to influence his cult. No electoral system could prevent that from happening.
