I have empathy for those under 40 for sure, but in truth, we are all living in a society plagued with mental health issues. The mental health disease is not sparing older folks.
In the 1960s and 1970s, there was a great outcry against capitalism. It faded and/or was beaten down by Reaganomics, which helped lure people into the snare by promising riches for everyone if only they'd work hard enough.
Today, capitalism is worse than ever. Today's banking "crisis" is led by professional investors who are short selling perfectly healthy medium sized banks into oblivion. That's just one small example of the Ayn Rand world we all now live in.
On top of that, most people really don't vote. The complaint is that all the choices are the same, just a lesser of two evils, but the only way to fix that is to vote for that lesser to try to increment change. That, or revolution, which I honestly don't think people have the stomach for.
