I grew up during the "counter-culture" 1970s and it seems like a lot of my peers are now Trump voters.

Back then, I was actually fairly conservative. I voted for Gerald Ford because I thought it was sweet that he pardoned Nixon. I believe a lot in forgiveness as the main truth towards healing.

He was the last Republican I ever voted for.

Now, I find myself almost to the left of Bernie. So I went the opposite way of many of my peers.

I think with the hippie crowd, there's a bit of libertarianism, so in a way, it almost makes sense. But I don't understand the rest of it. I don't understand how the things that MAGAts stand for is okay for anybody.

A lot of people wonder if we will have a civil war in the U.S.. I don't know how anybody can look at Jan 6 and then someone attacking the home of the U.S. Speaker of the House as anything but the first volleys of that war. History will probably agree.

I have always been a pacifist. As I get older and I see these things, I'm beginning to question my commitment to pacifism.
