I gave up remembering the name of Mexican presidents a long time ago. They all seem pretty helpless against Mexico's real government: drug cartels, who are fostered by something much more idiotic than not remembering a Mexican president's name: America's dumb "war on drugs," which has killed thousands of people on both sides of the border to absolutely no effect.

When America strips cartels of their power by legalizing drugs and focusing its attention on rehabilitation instead of incarceration, maybe I'll start paying attention to Mexican elections.

Until then, Mexican elections are pointless exercises in futility.
