I don't think that even this SCOTUS will challenge the notion that the Maestro of Hate was an "officer" of the U.S. It's just too baked into the language of legal documents throughout the nation's laws.

However, and it pains me to say it, it may be fair that he's being barred from a ballot without a proper trial based on the facts. If he gets convicted before SCOTUS sees this, the good guys would have a better case, but I think this is going to move to the Supreme Court quickly.

Regarding Haley, the likely winner of Trump getting bounced off the ballot, Trump will turn his viciousness against her. None of his hard core supporters will vote for her. He'll let loose an epic volley of hate toward whoever wins the nomination, but especially if it's a woman of color.
