I don't know if it helps to offer a few comments when you're in a bad head space about it all, but I'll try anyone and just remember, there are real people out there rooting for you.
1) Many online bullies are trolls, literally bought and paid for by the Russian government. I'm not a conspiracy guy. I do think we really landed on the moon, the earth is not flat, and that although there is some interesting evidence regarding JFK's assassination, there is no conclusive evidence of a conspiracy. I say all this because the Russian troll thing is fact. They operate out of an office in St. Petersburg, and you can find info on this from reliable sources.
2) REAL online bullies are cowards. They say hurtful things because their own lives are so miserable that their only coping mechanism is to lash out in any way they can. If you met them in real life, they'd be afraid of you because they are afraid of everybody and everything.
3) For Medium, you can "hide" comments in addition to blocking people. This has the effect of removing a comment from your story. You can also do this on replies to comments YOU make to others. So, in other words, if I was making an abusive comment right now, you could hide this comment.
#3 is a powerful tool on Medium that keeps the crazies away. Good luck to you!
