I can't speak to your theory but I do know that I've been writing on Medium for about a year and I was lucky if I got a few hundred views on any one story.

Then a couple weeks ago I did a story with Trump in the headline and Dog the Bounty Hunter in the first paragraph, and it got 17K views.

So my recommendation is to use "Dog the Bounty Hunter" in all of your first paragraphs.
