I bet the shopkeepers were on board with this. One of my first experiences at witnessing racial profiling happened when I was a very young man in a tourist town shop with a Black friend. The shopkeeper didn't keep her eyes off my friend for one second. I could have robbed her blind when my friend and I went to separate parts of the store.

This was back in the day before cams were ubiquitous (which shows my age!). But your post suggests to me that not much has changed.
