I attended college in 1976. I was able to work the summer before to pay ALL MY TUITION. I attended a state school, which in those days were supposed to be heavily financed by, ahem, the state.

So it was.

Now, that same university costs $16K for one semester tuition.

Also, back in those days, the highest tax brackets were paying something like 70% of their income to the taxman.

Even Republicans in those days knew we had to pay for shit.

Then came Ronald Reagan. Game over. Bill Clinton and the DNC began this 40 year process of right wing butt kissing, and here we are.
