I absolutely appreciate your perspective. I’m definitely in the most loathed demographic. Old white dude. I’m sad to report that we’ve earned our place in society and history. And although it might be prejudicial to “profile” me, to borrow a word, it’s not really racist unless my demographic becomes part of a repressed minority. I still don’t need to slam my palms against the steering wheel if I’m pulled over, even if it’s a Black cop who does it.

I live in Atlanta right now and I’m around a lot of Black people and 99% of them are absolutely sweet and kind in their behavior towards me. Maybe they say things behind my back based on assumptions, but with my peer group’s track record, as evidenced by both history and your own personal experience, I can’t blame them if they do.

If anyone in my peer group is upset about all the anti white diatribes here on Medium (for example), the answer is really, really simple. Stop being racist, and if you’re not racist, take a zero tolerance policy toward it when you see it from your white friends. Stop letting them get away with stupid remarks. Stop electing morons like Kevin McCarthy.

I agree with you that two wrongs don’t make a right. But I’m in no position to point fingers. And frankly, I don’t experience any real degree of prejudice on the street against me.

I’d say that says a lot about the quality of people who are not in my demographic. There is a complete lack of grace within my peer group that isn’t shared by most people of color. I’d say that Black Americans and other groups assaulted by Northern European norms have responded with extreme dignity and patience.

Diversity is a beautiful thing. A purely white nation would be hell on earth. An alternative history minus all the culture, in particular, provided by all the various non-white groups in America really sounds creepy to me. This diversity is precisely what has made America so full of promise (as yet still not fully realized).

There are other nations on earth dominated by one ethnicity. The most interesting places within those countries are their more cosmopolitan cities.

My dream is to see pictures of the U.S. Congress seated in deliberation that isn’t a sea of white faces. Until that happens, it’s probably going to be a fight where I’m on the wrong side, rooting for the right side. It’s uncomfortable sometimes, but that’s on my peers, not you.

There is some progress being made towards the cause of diversity, especially among young people, but until my kind dies out, I’m sorry to report that the cause will continue to meet stiff resistance.

Thanks for your view on this. It’s such a fairly and reasonably thought out piece.
