Keep in mind I don't claim to even begin to be able to understand the struggle on your end. My only aim in most of my racism-related articles is to fight back against the views so prevalent in my demographic.

And yeah, much of this was forged from my upbringing. I had some close Black friends growing up that helped me see my way through much of this stuff. It isn't because I'm some kind of magically enlightened soul. I had lots of help. I was just lucky to have gotten that help at a very young age (before I was a teenager), and so resisting the message I received from my parents happened organically.

And also, still, writers like you, who teach me how far I still have to go to erase those old tapes.

I try to make the argument that it isn't enough for people of pallor to nod our heads in agreement. We need to take direct action whenever we can. This is one way I try.
