Here are some of the positions of Patrick Morrisey, his Republican opponent in 2018:

Morrisey said he was proud to join a lawsuit brought by a group of 20 states which challenges the constitutionality of the individual mandate included in the Affordable Care Act.

"West Virginia is involved because the individual mandate to purchase health-care insurance is unconstitutional."

Morrisey said he was also involved in a successful lawsuit that came before the U.S. Supreme Court regarding the now-canceled Atlantic Coast Pipeline project.

"The reason we led on the ACP case at the U.S. Supreme Court was we wanted to protect West Virginia jobs and we thought that the 4th Circuit clearly made an error in its decision," he said. "We thought it was absurd. We stepped up, and we wrote the briefs, we argued and we had a very big impact."

Morrisey joined 12 states in supporting a brief in favor of North Carolina's 20-week abortion ban.

Morrisey investigated Planned Parenthood's activities in West Virginia and was endorsed for the U.S. Senate by West Virginians for Life.

Morrisey led a multi-state coalition of attorneys general in defending the right of states to prohibit sanctuary cities within their borders. A unanimous federal appeals court decision found in favor of the states.

Morrisey has A+ ratings from the National Rifle Association and the West Virginia Citizen's Defense League. He has secured reciprocity agreements with other states, allowing the concealed carry licenses of other states to be valid within West Virginia, and vice versa.

In July 2017, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton led a group of Republican Attorneys General from nine other states, including Morrisey, plus Idaho Governor Butch Otter, in threatening the Donald Trump administration that they would litigate if the president did not terminate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy that had been put into place by President Barack Obama.

He had campaigned as a loyal supporter of President Donald Trump, but lost to Manchin by about 19,400 votes (yikes!).

That is why Manchin is a registered Democrat. A Berniecrat would get creamed in West Virginia, which ain't Vermont. Politics 101.

Hey, you asked.
