Good stuff here.

Sex is most interesting in fiction when it isn't in your face. Anybody can write titillating stuff, in my opinion. But doing it in a subtle way is more of an art. Plus, sex wasn't a big thing in fiction in his day. Not like it is today. Some of the narrative you describe is pretty cool.

I thought Peter Jackson's take was actually a fairly sensual one. Frodo and Sam to me seemed to have a relationship that went beyond just buddy stuff, but maybe that was just me. The Aragorn and Eowyn stuff was very sensual, I thought.

Even the ring itself bore a sexuality to it with the way Frodo slid it on and off.

I could probably think of more if I thought about it a bit more.
