From an old white dude's perspective, for what it's worth: I can't count the times I've wondered about the many rock bands who used to sing about the evils of money and social disparity and are now rolling in the dough and living in palaces.

Capitalists have the perfect answer for revolutionaries: Give them money. It's an easy, brilliant solution.

Then it's: If they're not corruptible, kill 'em.

As the rock band Ten Years After sang:

"I'd love to change the world,

But I don't know what to do.

So I leave it up to you..."

It's depressing.

But your writing helps carry on your cause. So that's something, at least.
