Excellent writing to say the least. It's healthy to talk about this stuff. I'm constantly berating people in my demographic for their extreme racism and asking even those among us who consider ourselves allies to Black culture and the Black Renaissance that is taking place (nobody's really talking about it but it's happening) to continue to be aware of the old tapes we grew up with. It's helpful to see that similar tapes are sort of everywhere as part of the human experience.

I truly believe, as an optimist, that our children or grandchildren will live in a world where we all embrace one another. (If we don't burn the place to the ground first.)
