Dammit, I keep saying this over, and over, and over again in comments throughout Medium and here on PS.

It really drives me bonkers that people don't get this. Even progressives are afraid to talk about raising taxes.

Reagan, as you know, convinced the ENTIRE NATION, not just conservatives or centrists, but EVERYBODY that taxes are evil. Big government is bad.

Big government is not bad. It is NECESSARY. There will be wasteful spending. There will be idiot bureaucrats. Such is life. F***ing deal with it.

It is basic economics. You gotta pay for stuff. Want a new bridge? Pay for it, dummies. Want dad to be able to get treatments for whatever has made him sick? Pay for it, dammit. Stop making ME pay for it with these insane deductibles (which make healthcare plans useless) and insane monthly fees (for older people like me, at least).

Tuition at a GOOD state university cost me $360 or so per semester in the 1970s.

Guess how much that same university costs today. $18,000 per semester. What???

Conservatives killed public education, and now are whining about curriculums that teach about racial injustice. As if they have any right to govern curriculum in the schools they are destroying.

I could go on and on, but I'm tired of it. I'm tired of people not being able to comprehend such a basic economic issue. So thanks for trying for me. But I doubt anybody will listen to you, either.
