Congratulations! You got Perlmuttered!
I don't know what to think of Coz. I loved him growing up. I had all his records and listened to them a LOT. I watched I Spy and loved him in that, too. He was kind of a hero to me.
But he had an awful lot of accusers. I don't know how many of them were Black, but I assume a decent number of them.
I also would never discount the possibility of people banding together to bring down a celebrity.
But if that's the case, why him? He seemed cool.
I'm an absolute believer that the U.S. suffers from systemic racism, but he seems like an unlikely target to me. I would think it would be the other way around. The Cosby Show glorified the homogenization of Black society to make it look more white. I'd think white supremacists would be all for that. Of course, the show was also helpful in presenting a less "scary" version of Blacks to white America (which should not have been necessary).
I'm also not Black. This means my experience in dealing with the everyday bullshit Blacks have to deal with is non-existent. As my favorite tee shirt said when I was coming of age in Chicago, "It's a Black Thang, you wouldn't understand."
So if a Black person says leave Coz alone, I say give that more weight than anything whites like me say.
