Capitalism is designed to pit the people who make it work against those who profit from it.

We feel this every time we go to the boss for a raise and it's like trying to get water out of a stone. A lot of people don't even bother - they just look for a new job.

We feel it every time we try to get an invoice paid from a company that claims it's got cash flow issues.

We feel it when we are asked by restaurant owners to tip their grossly underpaid labor - I tip very well no matter how the service is because I am all too aware that they work under terrible conditions.

And we see it within the scope of the things you are describing here, as well as when we watch rich guys become spacemen.

Replacing capitalism won't be easy, though. We don't really talk about alternatives, because we're all so busy scrambling to survive in the system we have.
