Biden was actually pretty smart here. Trump hacked a terrible agreement with the Taliban. The Taliban have been gearing up since that time for a summer offensive. If Joe had reneged on Trump's deal, they would have launched a bloody offensive and Biden would have gotten blamed for all the casualties.

If America wants to be the world's misogyny police (and there are worse goals) they should start with the world's number one exporter: Saudi Arabia. Through their extensive network of madrasses they've been in the business of promoting Sharia law for decades while their hypocritical rulers party in Monaco and on million dollar yachts on the world's oceans.

Meanwhile we can hope that the Taliban is correctly reading the mood of their country. Women have made strides there. It's our one success if it sticks. Today's news conference may have been all words, but the Taliban know their culture and can possibly sense the reality that the people may not tolerate their old ways. I don't have a lot of hope for that, but it's not impossible.
