Alabama is a failed state, and there's probably not any hope for it. But in Texas, there is a very capable Democrat running for Ted Cruz's Senate seat (still needs to win his primary) named Colin Allred. If he can show that a Democrat can win a state-wide election, maybe somebody can pull the governor's mansion away from that monster Abbott.
